Carved wooden door in the small town of Castasegna, a Swiss town right on the border with Italy in the Bregaglia Valley. This house was originally built in 1566, like most of the houses in the valley, and renovated in 1992. Notice the traditional iron pot by the window filled with flowers, a common sight in the valley towns. The borders around the door are patterns scratched out of the still wet wall, decorative artwork called sgraffiti, traditionally done in two colors and originating in Italy, brought to the Engadin region of Switzerland in the 16th century and is still used today
